i am a cheerleader... ((i fly)) and our season is 11 months a year 5-6 times a week so my body takes a beating... but lately my back has been hurting TERRIBLY.

dont get me wrong.. i have had back problems forever.. i have mild scoliosis and back problems do run in my family... so the usual pain i can take...

when i do a scorpian though... the past 3 days... ((this is on one leg and where my left leg goes behind me and bends up so that my hands reach up and behind my head to grab my foot.. in other words... my foot almost touches the back of my head... anyways... i get this hot almost burning feeling in my left side of my back. it gets so painful i actually can barely stand when i come out of the stunt

now my first question is why??.. i have done that many a times and have never felt that feeling before.. i am pretty sure it is muscles because i definetly does not feel like it is the bones...

secondly.. i have been taking motrin and resting.. but what else can i do to help

SOUNDS LIKE A PINCHED NERVE. I HAVE HAD THAT SAME BURNING AND WENT TO A CHIROPRACTOR A FEW TIMES AND THE BURNING WOULD GO AWAY, HE SAID I HAD A PINCHED NERVE BETWEEN 2 VERTABRAS AND THE ADJUSTMENTS RELIVED TE PAIN, ALSO IF THATS THE CASE THE LONGER THE NERVE IS PINCHED THE LONGER IT TAKES TO HEAL 1M OF PINCHED NERVE 2 M TO GET BETTER

I've got serious back problems my spine is crumbling and it started out, with this pain starting down my left of my back down to the foot and my disc were rupture and they had to do surgery on me to fix it. This could also be that your main nerve is pinched like mine was, this main nerve controls all the nerves in your body maybe this can help you. Take Care

Try ThermaCare Heat Wraps (http://www.thermacare.com/index.jsp)
They might be helpful. But you should really be going to see a doctor, even if you don't think it's serious. It's probably because your muscles are overworked and now very tense. Perhaps a massage will do you good and a day in bed to help you relax.
