MEMORY STICK is a Sony trade name and is used to refer to the removable memory cards that Sony uses in many of its products. A branded MEMORY STICK product will only work in a Sony product.

No, only Sony cameras, Playstation Portables and a few other Sony products use Memory Stick. Canon cameras use either Compact Flash or Secure Digital cards. It depends on how old the Canon is and what model it is. Some of the larger, more expensive Canon's still use CF, but most of the smaller, cheaper ones use SD these days. If the camera is several years old, it might use CF even if it is a cheaper one, since CF is an older technology.
