most LCDs expecially under 27" are not HD ready.....

HD is 1080i or 1080p, you'll find looking at the specs that most will be 720p or 720i

most LCD will either accept the 1080i and scale it down a little so it can display it
or
just not accept it.

because of the way LCDs are made they can't really display the 2 million+ pixels needed for HD resolution 1 to 1
most max out aroud 1300x768, HD requires 1920x1080

the rediculously huge( and expensive) LCDs can..
the 46" Sony Bravia is such an LCD..

No. It has to specify that it is HD.
