I'm old enough to join the air force (almost 30) but I do not want to nor an I likely to be chosen to actually fly. (How many people actually get to be pilots.. really?) I have bad vision, but not to the point of it being considered a disability. There is a reserve base close to my home and F16s fly in formation almost everyday of the week. I love rollercoasters and never get motion sickness. It'd be interesting to see how many g's I could handle before blacking out. The fact that newscasters get rides must mean it isn't really really hard to pull off but I'm sure they don't let just anybody go for a ride. I wish I had some sad story to tell on the news and say my only wish is to ride in an F16. :-) Other than that what's a regular ol' tax paying civilan to do?

Do some research online and in your area. Maybe contact some pilots at smaller airports, they might be able to point you in the right direction. I dont know of any places off hand but in the past i have seen where you can go up for a flight in various privately owned/retired fighter jets. I imagine the price tag wouldnt be cheap.
EDIT:
I found a link to a company that takes people up for flights in fighter jets. Dont know what area you are in, but this might give you some info that can help.
Those here saying it cant be done dont know what they are talking about.

Although I have never flown in an F-16, I can provide you with some information.

Depending on where you live (and in school?) get with a school Education Counselor for possibly obtaining some information.

Are you at/close to age for joining the military? Definitely get with a military recruiter and ask about (at least) a flight simulator ride for the F-16.

I'm sure the military people would be willing to trade some flight simulator time for a possible recruit.

(What you don't ask, you won't know)

You're pretty much not going to get a ride, unless you are a governor or some other extreme VIP.

When Airmen retire after a long career, they might get a flight in an F-16.

Otherwise, you can go to flight school, and try to join the Air National Guard.

Wait till F160 comes up and F16 is declared a cab.
Wish you a nice ride to Jupiter.

Get cancer and make it your MAKE A WISH REQUEST. They don't let goofballs up in military aircraft. Better yet join the service and do something for your country.

I have been! My husband flies them and they have "spouse/family days" like once a year. It's pretty cool, I don't think they let civilians do it though.
