I've roasted marshmallows over a wood camp fire. Don't use any fuel other than untreated wood for health reasons. Here in NZ, quite a lot of teenagers set fire to schools and toast marshmallows over the flames. This is a bad idea because the timbers (most NZ schools are wooden buildings) are treated with arsenic, and there are poisonous fumes from other building materials like plastics. I've never tried it indoors, but you should be able to roast marshmallows over a gas flame in a well-ventilated room.

Ive made smores in the microven. It doesnt really work. The marshmallows go crazy on you and puff up to 100 times their size so you take it out. The chocolate hasnt really melted then but its fine . Ive tried to make smores in the oven but the marshmallow burnt and the chocolate baked and became hard. Dont belive me? put chocolate in the oven and set the temperture for 350+. Come back in 20 min and see what happened. Baked Chocolate

Yes to both. If you have a gas stove or BBQ it works great because there is an actual flame but you can roast marshmellows over any hot surface, even a candle. And that is the hardest part of making s'mores so you can make those too.

i've used a toaster oven, and it realy works well. also, it's especially easy on electric stoves, try sticking the marshmallow on on a fork, and roasting it just over the heat. or, you can put the mallow in the microwave for a couple of seconds (it grows really big, it's kinda fun to watch). for chocolate, i'd suggest melting it over a boiling pan of water (cover the pan with a plate, put the chocolate directly on the plate, wait for it to melt, and scoop it onto the graham cracker). suburban camping. quite wonderful.

I used to make smores in the oven - just put them under the broiler until the marshmallow and chocolate have melted.
