Typically, every antidepressant I have taken, except for a few, has caused me to feel very weak, my body shakes uncontrollably, feel lightheaded and I yawn constantly. I do have more energy yet I am also tired but cannot sleep. I was in another doctor's office, and my blood pressure checked dangerously low several times while on various antidepressants. My doctor said I had a hypersensitivity to SSRI's, which basically means they cause me to have low blood pressure. So now I suffer from depression all the time, for years I have. I have to take small amounts of any antidepressant and can never go up on the dose. Anyone have this problem and if so, is there another type of medicine to take that won't cause this? I really just want to know if anyone else has this same problem.

All drugs have side effects. Vioxx killed more Americans than the terrorists did on 9/11. Drugs (medications) are the 4th leading cause of death in the U.S. See site below for natural help with a psychitrist telling WHAT YOUR DOCTOR MAY NOT TELL YOU ABOUT DEPRESSION.

Also has foods like apples and grapes that the U.S. Dept of Agriculture has found to have antidepression phytochemicals. Note-- your tax dollars paid for the research done to help you. You can be happy and free of depression with some effort on your own. It is easy to take a pill.

OK..someone mentioned St. John's Wort. BE VERY CAREFUL. If you've been using prescription anti-depressants in the last 60 days, do NOT try St. John's Wort. It can cause serious interactions. And one other thing. I tried Wort and yes it did alleviate my depression, but it caused me to get an itchy rash all over. You need a trained PSYCHIATRIST to deal with the kinds of issues you are talking about. You are not a freak..this is a medical problem. Depression can be very serious. Don't give up. Find a psychiatrist that will work with you to come up with an appropriate treatment. There is no shame in getting help.

There are many types of antidepressants. SSRIs are not the only ones out there. If you are getting the medication from your physician, try seeing a psychiatrist. He will know more about antidepressants than a regular doctor.

There is a medication out there that will work for you. Keep plugging on until you find it. Good luck.

DO NOT STOP THE DRUGS WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH YOUR DOCTOR. Stopping cold turkey, can have serious ramifications. You need to discusss this with your doctor. There are many other medications, that could work better for you.
