Being mad isnt what I would be. I would be hurt that he didnt think enough of you to at least call and see how you were doing. He sounds selfish and insensitive to your needs. I wouldnt count on him for anything that is important to you.

My father also died about 15 years ago. It's become easier with time. I would suggest that you have a right to be angry with your bf if you explicitly stated you wanted him to comfort you for the sad anniversary. I assume that your bf hasn't experienced the death of a loved one, so he might not know just how affected you are by it. You need to communicate succinctly in order for him to understand his obligations, otherwise he might be able to legitimately plead ignorant, which is less culpable than purposely being a jerk, even if they initially feel the same.

It is alright to be mad at him! You have every right to your emotions! I am sorry for your loss. I miss my Mom and it will get better but you will never get over your Dad death. Some people just don't understand forgive your boyfriend but like I said you can be as irritated with him as you want.

it's not wrong to be upset. But you have to realize that a special, emotional day for you is just another day to him. I think it would have been nice and super of your bf to be there for you and support you, but then what did you want him to do. If he came over and didn't stay long would that have been enough?

It is your tragedy, not his. After 10 years it's time to get over it.
