I have the same advice from my teacher for playing trumpet. Lower your adams apple by opening your throat more. to do this you must kkeep your toungue low in your mouth guving you a much better flow of air. to sing like your yawning you just have to get your breathing as relaxed as a yawn. when you breathe in do not tense up your throat. you just want it to be as relaxed as possible. i hope this information helped you! Good Luck : )

I don't know about lowering your adam's apple, because I'm a girl....but I know about the yawning.

Asking to sing like you're yawning is asking you to sing with an open throat. It took me a long time to understand what that means. But, anyway, do you know what your soft pallette is? It's the part of the roof of your mouth towards your throat, behind the hard part of the roof of your mouth. When you yawn, the soft pallette raises upwards, making a larger cavity in the back of the mouth/throat. Try just yawning a few times to see if you can feel that, and then try to replicate that feeling when you sing. Hope that helps!

It means open your mouth and throat wide, then relax it. Picture your adam's apple dropping in your throat.
