not so much the teeth, but the gums area, surrounding the teeth. I don't remember knocking them recently, or bit into anything hard or cold. they just sort of ache... like the teeth are growing or falling off. is this a toothache or gumache? what's the cause and what should i do? I am a 29 yrl old mother of one, if it helps in your diagnosis.

It's probably pressure in your sinuses. When my sinuses start bothering me they give me terrible toothaches. I used to run to my dentist everytime this happened. He'd take xrays and see my sinuses were cloudy and give me antibiotics for sinus infection.

There is always a reason.Check the gums,if there is food stock in there.Floss them and brush gently.Rinse with warm salt water.Bang your teeth with your finger, see if they hurt. You could have an infection on the tip of your root.If you just had a baby, the hormonal change could cause an irritation to your gums. There are so many reasons why?If it doesn't go way within few days see your dentist for an x-ray.Be gentle to your gums.Sometimes we think brushing hard is better and cleaner. Not the case. All we have to remove is bacteria which is very soft.Keep the are clean.

You may also want to check your thyroid functioning. One of
the fallouts of thyroid problem is having gum tenderness and pain. But, with thyroid, it is likely to result in tenderness in the entire gum line. In your case, the region being only the front two teeth, it may only be due to localized problem near these two
teeth involved. In any case, use the pads on two fingers to
massage the entire gum line, and try and figure out which
regions hurt when you press more, for a better picture of
the problem. Gargling with salt-water for a few minutes might
provide good temporary relief.

As a dental hygienist, I must first ask you to brush and FLOSS daily, then agree with the answer that said Sinus problems. Unless you have infection comming out of the gums...or an internal problem that can only be diagnosed by taking an X-ray....sinus is the next logical answer...you may however need an antibiotic to clear it up completely.
So calll your dentist Mon. morning.

You might have an infection, but you should definitely call your dentist. Try rising a few times a day with a good mouthwash, like Listerine, in the meantime. If it is an infection, it will keep it clean and help with the pain.
