Hello, soon-to-be cop's wife. Don't worry, he's not going to go to work and come home suddenly a different man. It's gradual and you will change a little with him. It's not all bad. You'll have to learn not be sensitive to everyone hating him for what some other cop did and people who aren't married to cops will never understand. You'll see what I mean.
Depending on where he works, you will mostly see more of him now than you did while he was in the Navy. The thing is, he will be expected to be a cop 24-7 and he will be b/c it's not something you turn off. His job will become your lifestyle in a subtle way. Like you'll notice more details about people and become a lil more suspicious (not a paranoid freak) but more aware of your surroundings. You will both be held to a higher standard and scrutinized by the public and people will want to talk to him no matter where you guys are or what you were just saying. It's not bad, but it is a unique lifestyle, like the military (my husband and I were both in the Air Force).
Just remember, you are his soft, clean, unsoiled, safe place. It sounds weird but it's hard to explain. I could write a book, but if you want a book try "I Love A Cop". It's a good book and you can find it on Amazon.com. Good luck sweetie and just start with "don't believe everything you hear" and go from there. :o)
PS: You'll have funny stories to tell and listen to as well as others. You'll both make good friends that will look after each other. There really is a connection among police families and there is something sacred about a good cop's wife. Or any good wife really. Just keep your sense of humor, you'll need it. I hope this helped.

No, you can't go to jail for sleeping with another man's wife, Joe. And this cop who's looking for you needs to understand real quick that you didn't know she was married. Someone, maybe a good friend, needs to spread the word that you didn't know that she was married until after the fact. And if this guy still comes after you, make damn sure you get it on tape. No matter what, he has no right to abuse the authority that's been given to him.

I am not a cop's wife, but someone close to me is and YES!!
1. You should have seen those people at their wedding! Animals. I would be frightened if my husband was hanging out wiht them all day.
2. It will be YEARS of long hours.
3. Depending on the place (we are in NYC), cops see a lot of bad stuff. They definitely get jaded.
They do get alot of vacation-- that's a plus, oh, and good benefits.
