I eat three meals a day and am usually full afterwards or enough that I don't have to think about food for awhile again; however, within two hours I am hungry again. I do OK with snacks; however, I could eat an entire box of Cheez-Its in one sitting. I, too, think that a hamburger is a snack. What do I do to battle these cravings? Sometimes I ignore them, but if I do that I really pig out when I do eat. It's really affecting my health and my weight. Any suggestions? I don't have time for gym as I am a stay-at-home Mom who doesn't have a daytime sitter.

Hi there. I'm also a stay at home mom and I know how hard it is to get in a bit of exercise. That's why you make it fun and take them on walks with you. Push them in a little car at the park. You don't have to go to the gym and exercise. Well about the eating part. I also have a problem with cravings. If I crave a particular thing......i've gotta eat it or I cannot concentrate on anything else. So here's what I do. Your body craves things for the nutrients that said item has. Say you're craving a burger. Just eat the patty. Or the patty an pickles. Don't eat the whole thing. Just eat what you're craving most about it. You will feel satisfied when you're done. If you're craving ice cream. Eat sherbert or yogurt icecream. It's healthier and is loaded with vitamins. Sugar too but it's better than Rocky Road. Hope all works out. I'm gonna go have a snack. I made myself hungry.
I've just noticed that you have a baby on your profile. If it's yours, then give yourself a little bit of a break. Your body is still recovering from a 9 MONTH pregnancy. Don't push yourself too much.

Go ahead, snack! But make it a low calorie, healthy option in pre determined sizes.
- When you're eating things from a big box or bag, don't eat out of it, instead pour a portion into a bowl then take it away from the kitchen
- Also, you could try eating smaller more frequent meals a day (2-3 hours), h/o it may not work for you because you may not be satiated.
- Chewing gum helps cravings, drinking hot liquids, like soup or tea make you feel fuller faster
- Even at home you can excercise. Or make it a family activity, take your kids outside for a walk, or if safety is a concern, go to your backyard..if weather is a concern, buy an excercise video..if time is a concern do 5 mins of excercise when you find time in your day, as frequently as possible, or jump rope
- Play with your kids, get your mind off food. Zoning out in front of the t.v. won't help (think of all those McDonald's commercials)

Try keeping yourself occupied. Usually when you don't have anything to do you eat more, i know you're a mom and it may sound stupid me saying nothing to do, but even watching TV or spending some time on the computer may get u hungry or that feeling for munchies. It may be stress related too. You have to observe you're eating habits, when you get them mostly, like on the computer etc. Maybe the food you're eating doesn't have enough energy so your body keeps needing more to keep going. When you get a craving try have one of these cereal bars, they're healthier than a hamburger and full of energy.

I would suggest that you brush your teeth after every meal this usually helps. But if it doesn't you could always use the healthy approach. Instead of cheese-it's eat carrots or salary, have some fruit or a salad. Your job is the gym design activities that will keep the kids occupied and help you get a much need and fast workout! Good luck.

Maybe its because of the cold weather.. The duration of someone feeling full depends on what they eat, you could eat porridge and feel full, but you would become hungry earlier than eating rice. However I do think that if you're hungry, you could eat salad. It makes you full with less calories. There are some cases of misinterpreted of 'not full' as 'hungry'. "Not full" doesn't mean "hungry" coz I define hungry as "when my stomach make some noise". The one I adore said that "Eat when you're hungry, stop before being full". It's good for you health.

I read a book about how women crave unhealthy foods, but it's scientifically proven that men and women don't crave a specific food, they crave something sweet or sour, and it's texture. Like, if you crave something sour, just eat an orange.

Give up the carbohydrates. Carbohydrates give you a quick source of energy but they are digested quickly and you feel hungry faster. Proteins will fill you up faster and take longer to digest which gives you the full feeling longer.
