Will my past affect my chances in becoming part of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated?

Hello I am currently a sophomore in college who particpate in my community and improved my G.P.A over the years. my freshman year I withdrew from two semester due to some problems in my life that affected my ability to do well in school. I have since improved my G.P.A. I understand that I must have two successful semesters in order to pledge. Will my past affect my acceptance to joined Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated? I also joined the Student support service at my school who assigned me to a Student mentor who is currently an AKA, would it be wise to express my interest to her?
