We've been chosen by a 15 lb door darter that we have decided to keep, but now he is getting over our 4 ft fence. My daughter loves this dog so I've talked to an in ground. fence salesman, but it was very costly. Are any of the online or petstore do-it-yourself types reliable?

I'm a German Shepherd breeder and they climb and jump fences. So, I got the canine electric fence charger for about $30-40. You also need the wire to run across the top of your fence and the yellow deals that attach the wire to your fence. My male climbs it whining the whole time in thunderstorms, he's such a baby. But otherwise, it keeps them in.

There are several but dont buy the cheap ones. There are several DOWNSIDES to having these fences. A child or stranger can enter and be bitten. Another animal can enter and attack your dog. It may not meet local specifications of proper containment. If your dog is properly contained in a Fenced back yard and you wish to contain him to certain areas ,this works fine.

Well i won't lie. I have a dalmation that was very brave and no matter what voltage she would go right by it. So if your dog is a wus it will be GREAT. But a brave one like mine will probbally go right through it. Now tho we keep her on a leash. you can buy long ones that you can tie to a tree so when you take them out to potty you just hook them to it for like 5 to 10 minutes. GOOD LUCK!!!!! :-)

These things are great to keep your pet in but they don't keep other animals out. You can only throw so much temptation at your pet. My experience with them was expensive and did not produce the result I wanted.
