I answer with a question: Have you seen them off their meds??

I am one of those who believes that too many are diagnosed with this that are normal and lack coping skills.

I have dated a woman who was diagnosed this way and it was a good relationship.

I probably wouldn't, because it runs on one side of my family and I wouldn't want to get into a relationship that might produce bipolar children. But if it weren't for that, I think it would be just fine. My mom has bipolar disorder, and she's normal on her medication. Good night!

No, let me explain why not. The last person I considered anything was actually bipolar, my ex before had mental illness as well, and they both really hurt my feelings. Although it's not like me to avoid certain groups of people, I have made myself a promise never to get involved with anyone who is bipolar or severely mentally ill again. I understand not all mentally ill people are unreasonable, but my heart gets broken too easily.

yes i see no reason not too

i am bipolar and i have been taking my meds for 4 years. im very stable. i have had the same boyfriend for 6 years and we are now engaged. he stuck with me through all my break downs.

once you get on your meds your pretty good unless you stop taking them!

Well I wouldn't make this too serious, just let them know that you and him aren't a couple, and you're openly dating with him. You'll see if you can handle it or not, and if he's responsible enough to take his medications daily.

No, because after a while they probably will stop taking their medications and then you will be in a world of hurt.

KitterKat,

IT LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN A LOT OF GOOD ADVICE. BUT JUST REMEMBER THAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS JUST THAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP.
GIRL, BELIEVE IT OR NOT IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN RELATIONSHIPS. FELLOW YOUR HEART AND LEAN NOT TO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. BUT PUT ALL YOUR TRUST IN GOD THROUGH ALL THINGS! ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS: HOW MUCH DO I REALLY LOVE THIS PERSON? HOW MUCH DO THIS PERSON REALLY LOVES ME?
ASK GOD TO SHOW YOU WHAT TO DO AND HE WILL.

BE BLESS!
