United States Army, Russian Army (though they did small tone down a notch after their Soviet days), and China (man power).
I don't know how you got Japan in there at the strongest; they probably have the smallest and least equipped military. We stripped them down ever since WWII and they can't ever do any military actions though the U.S. is protecting them since they can’t really fight on their own, actually have a couple bases there. Japan has a very small army and I don’t think they even have much of a navy or air force, if they have one at all.
If you would look at all the equipment in the U.S. arsenal, it’s pretty extraordinary, camera guided bombs that can fit in windows and with the new Future Warrior coming as most NATO countries are making their own version too. Includes computers and eyepiece, squad locator and communications, camera on the M16 for peering around corners, better and lighter battle equipment, a whole load of infield-when-you-need-it intel, and a RPG "shield" is in development, and the list goes on. All coming in 2008 and fully produced at 2012 where the armor actually can change instantly to battle environment and the list goes on 2025 where the crazy science fiction armor and equipment comes in. This new type of warfare evolution would run circles around Russia and China’s old Soviet style of warfare.
It would allow an incredible advantage to the U.S. side in any type of warfare, almost like cheating when you can track where you and your squad members are and your enemy too.

Check it out. Only the rounded down version but it you follow other technology news, you would be amazed on what they can add to the project due to the new finds in science everyday.

The US Army is far and away the most powerful Army in the world. The Chinese military, while numerous, is far behind in terms of technology and training. Japan has only a self-defense force. Russia is, well, Russia... they're having trouble feeding their people and just maintaining a knowledge of where their nukes are located.
Great Britain is probably number 2, though China is gaining quickly. Israel is probably the next most powerful military, though they are small in numbers, and couldn't project power halfway around the globe. They are powerful, though, in terms of what they are designed to do, and their weapons are as advanced as anyone's.

1. USA
1. China (a tie between the 2)
3. North Korea.

China has the largest military in the world right now by like 1.5 million i believe.
North korea has about 1 mil and are extremely die hard fighters.

Japan does not have much of an army. Their Self Defense Forse is limited by their constitution.
The Russian army is badly demoralized and their equipment is falling apart.
