Its proven that your voice is it's deepest in range early in the morning when you wake up - due to the relaxed state your body is in, and the fact that you are not using your vocal cords in your sleep. Based on this, I suggest that you do as little talking as you possibly can. If you don't absolutely have to talk, then don't. When you do your deep voice, you should pull every word and syllable from the pit of your stomach. Use your diaphragm. It also helps to tuck your chin into your chest a little - but not so much that you look like you're looking down - just enough that it helps, and that you don't look stupid at the same time.

Well, what I usually do is this: Make sure you don't eat any dairy or anything with a gooey consistency before you go on air, like cheese or something really sugary. Keep some black tea or water with you to sip on while on air.

As for creating depth, that comes from your "chest voice." You'll feel your chest resonate a bit when you speak in chest voice, and that's the most desirable sound for a radio announcer. Proper inflection instead of sounding monotonous is important as well.

You need to first understand the type of voice you have. If you are a tenor (high voice) you will not be able to create the depth that a basso profundo (Profound Bass) naturally has. You don't have to have depth in your voice in order to become a great radio announcer. You only need to have a well trained voice with the ability to create color with the words you speak. This is done with varying pitch and color of the voice. Record yourself and listen, find a good voice coach and work with the voice you have. If done properly it doesn't matter if you have depth or not. Its about telling a story with your voice and not how high or low your voice is.
