Every time I turn on PC I get error message to tell me windows defender has not been able to initialize 0x800106ba. Restart or see how to turn on manually. Tried both, and run spy search and virus scan, and system restore, but still get message. Can you help/

Could be that it's corrupt. I'd uninstall it via control panel, download & run (free) Ccleaner to remove any dross, then redownload & install defender.

i would uninstall it completely from the add/remove program in the control panel, that would be the best bet, reboot and do a fresh install
