im crazy about my heritage.. and i want know.. more so from actuall full indians.. like my dad..
I look white as can be.. even though i have jet black hair.. i have pale skin.. i have papers and all and have been on reservations and they hate me..
(they have some 'polo game they play... wouldnt let me in it') i just want to learn..!!! cherokees tend to be a bit more pale then others and would love to connect with another and learn all about something that i want to pass on to my child.. please pass on any info or email... i dont want this to be something that is forgotten.. i am sooo proud of this.. i want him to respect this and learn of his blood line.. thanx

ok. so to the last comment i got.. apperantly you have nevr been a reserve before... THEY hate white peolpe.. period.. i dont care if your full blooded.. if your not family or look white.. they dont like you..
really..... it is a tight nit group and they do not except outsiders.. especially if you do not 'look like you belong..
paper..dud..hello.... in order to even get in a reservation.. you have to have these papers.. (and it helped fund my college)

OMG.. barged in?? POW wow?? dude.. you watch to many movies... even if the same tight group that comes off a reservation and not the ones trying to cash out.. just... ugghhh.. i RESPECT where i come from.. and thats a joke.. a pow wow!! you think that they would sink so low as to perform some show... for some tourists!!!!! Some groups do to promote.. and kudoes!! but not my family..
im insulted and they should be too.. i barged nothing.. what you think i kicked down those gates..?? get real.. On my faters side if the family, its like trying to be the only white person in a black family.. i stand out!!!

What papers?
Indians know that mixed-race people might not look the same. If they're hating on you, it might be because you have barged in or made someone uncomfortable.
Watch the newspaper for events where you would be welcomed. For example, in some places, there are pow-wows where you can re-connect and make friends.

You're defensive when a new concept is introduced to you. Could this be why you got rejected? Google what a pow wow is before you make yourself look even more foolish. It's a convention, not a show.

don't worry about it i'm in the same boat with you . only it was my dad who was irish I think of it this way I am the only cherokee with a coat of arms that I know of.
