My ring is a 1/2 carat princess cut set in platinum. It cost $1800. My wedding band was a custom made wrap with1/4 carat princess cut diamonds on either side for $1300, set in platinum as well. On average an engagement ring costs $2000 for a traditional solitare of 1/2 carat or more. Of course you have infinite options and it depends on your budget and what you and your lady likes. I know I'm not a man, but as a girl who impatiently awaiting my own special ring, I can honestly say that it doesn't matter. My promise ring was $200, and I absolutely LOVE it! Would have loved it as an engagement ring...

Price doesn't matter. If she loves you for who you are...she'll be happy with any ring you get. When I got engaged..I took the bride to be to the store, and she picked out her own ring. She picked a ring less than $1000.00, and we've been married 24 yrs.

if your worried about the price, you can get a pretty nice ring (usually the complete wedding set, two rings) for the bride for real cheap and real nice. You could also get yours there as well, and put it on lay-a-way. for a nice ring w/ 2 bands and more than a karat of diomonds for around $1,000.00

I'm a married woman, It was around $1,200 plus my wedding band. I was blown away that my hubby bought that ring. It's absolutely beautiful!!!
