I've worked with the Russians while they were in Bosnia. As a matter of fact, they left while I was there in 2003.

There are some good guys in the Russian Army. As far as a fighting force, I'm not too impressed, though. It's funny that they used to walk around in the evening in our living area with trash bags of Russian military equipment to trade or sell with the Americans. I actually traded my watch for a Russian AK 47 bayonet.

Like I said though, I do like the guys.

Russia has the highest draft dodging percentage of any country in the army. Only about 11% of the men drafted ever show up. They also have the highest AWOL rate of any Army in the world. The part of Russia's Army that is volunteer is pretty good. Unfortunately this is a small percentage of their fighting force. The largest part of there Army is conscript, poorly trained, poorly paid, poorly fed and poorly supported.

They get treated pretty horribly and their pay stinks. Regardless, many soldiers serving in places like Chechnya right now are doing so because the military is a better source of income than any job they could get in their town/village.

WELL, YOU CAN'T SAY SHIIT ABOUT RUSSIAN SOLDIERS WITHOUT HAVING BEEN AROUND THEM.

THEY ARE GREAT MEN LIKE THE SOLDIERS OF ANY OTHER COUNTRY.

> THEY LOVE THEIR COUNTRY

> THEY ARE PATRIOTIC

> THEY WANT TO DEFEND THEIR LAND

> THEY WANT TO BRING THE LAND INTO PEACE

> THEY ARE READY TO SERVE WITH PRIDE

> THEY WANT TO KILL THEIR ENEMIES

> THEY SERVE WITH DISTINCTION

I hope you all now have a better idea of what makes a Russian soldier.

Russian soldiers are disciplined and thoroughly trained. Unfortunately, this training and discipline make their soldiers robotic and robs them of their innovative skills. Their soldiers are multiethnic and get along better interracially than Americans.

I am sure they want the same in life as many of the others who are not Russian.I am reasonably certain that they do not want what I have to deal with.

They didn't fight as well as the Afghanis who opposed them. They were pretty good at booby trapping toys, though. I guess most of them work for the Russian mafia oppressing their own countrymen, now.

Very poorly trained conscripts. Very poorly paid. Very poorly equipped. Horrible living conditions.
