Thank you for responding with such thoughtful answers...it's unfortunate that a few angry people drown out the good and loving people around us...

I don't think much of them at all ... Infact I think they actually have NO IDEA what a TRUE CHRISTIAN is.

I used to be anti-christian because it seemed that everybody I knew who called themself a christian were nothing but biggoted self-righteous arrogant pigs... THEY were BETTER than the next person ...

THEN I was fortunate enough to come across some really wonderful people .. who did not judge or condemn others .. when they said that they would pray for you .. it was because they cared for you ...
and even though they said they were Christian .. they were humble .. none of this " I AM GOING TO HEAVEN AND YOU ARE GOING TO HELL" stuff ...
SOME would say .. I am praying for you because i want you to be saved because you are a good person and God would want you in his arms .. that kind of thing ...

Some *so-called Christians* are only Christians in name ... and ot anything else and certainly NOT their hearts....

TRUE christians are the loveliest of people ... the PHONEY ones are just plain horrible hateful people.

As a Christian, I believe that Christians who harass anyone are not really Christians. If they really, truly were Christians, they wouldn't harass people because the Bible tells us that we are to love our neighbor... What we need to do is just live a life that's a good example, and if people ask us about our faith, or try to challenge it, then we should explain what we believe and why. If they don't want to believe it that's their choice... harassing them because they don't believe is doing the opposite of what we want to do. It's only making them want to believe less, and is giving them a bad view of Christians. If they were looking for a real answer and we harassed them, they would probably never talk to another Christian about their faith again. Like I said earlier, all we can do is be a good example, and pray for them... That will do more good than all the preaching and harassing in the world!!!

Before I became a Christian I was harassed by Christians on the streets of Hollywood. One time I even got in loud verbal insulting argument much like the ones that go on in this forum.
It's not necessary for Christians to push Jesus on anyone. If they do then they are extremely out of line with not only the teachings of Christ but also the character of Christ. We are to be " like" Him. He didn't go out seeking the people on the streets, they went seeking out after Him. He just went about His Fathers\'s business. It is the Holy Spirit's job to open up the eyes and hearts of those seeking the truth. Not ours. We just plant seeds and God will provide the harvesters. The Good News is for those who are seeking truth, not for those who don't care.
Also many new Christians are extremely over enthusiastic because it's all so new and exciting for them. They want to share with everyone and aren't even aware that they are being pushy. This is just immaturity and not really harassment. They usually calm down after awhile.

Some of them believe you can badger people into heaven. Christ called out a few very wicked leader-hypocrites, those were the ones who profess to know God and help others to get to him, but knowingly did evil constantly. Almost all others He forgave instantly but also warned them not to sin again. He was a man of love, and many don't understand that. I am a Christian and think any Christian that gets in your face does not know the One they serve. That being said just because some Christians act like that does not make following Christ any less important or imperative to where you end up.

well this the animalistic human nature of the emotions. you see there is the spiritual aspect of the human mind which is higher morals and proper reasoning, and the way we should be and do things. but we have this spirit in an animal body. last time i checked we are hairy mammals. driven and tossed about desire greed, substances and emotion. so these Christians who attack anyone or harass anyone give in to this animal nature which goes against the tenants and pillars of their religion. the bible says trying to correct a fool is like trying to hold a wild dog by its ears.....its not a good idea to do it because it causes fights and badness, and it makes God look bad.

personally i think they should study more of the bible,no one has the right to harass another just because they dont agree doesnt make it right to try to force your beliefs if people would gather and study rather than harass they would know that God is love and that is His first commandment is love,we have the right to discuss and learn from each other, but the bible leaves no room for anything but what the bible states.

im so glad i grew up in a (mostly) jewish neighborhood and went to a liberal college. i never had to hear anyone else's religious business even if it was different. in the corporate world, religion is rarely discussed - like politics. i was never bothered about anything religious until i logged onto yahoo answers. honestly.

give me all the thumbs down you want, but im not making this up i have been mildly disturbed by some of the things that people try to harass others about on here. i truly had no idea this behavior was acceptable to people.... christians nonetheless

..

Maybe they're still lost. Maybe they don't truly have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The bible says you will know them by their fruit. meaning.. if they are harassing people and not showing the love of Christ, then that is some rotten fruit. they need a close encounter of the God kind.

a true christian with your best interests at heart would not do that they would come to you and try to show you what the bible says if you refuse they would go away or maybe try again if you do not want to learn then the bible says not to cast pearls before swine so they would not watse anymore time on you

Not a Christian myself, but my boss is - and she finds it sad, pitiful and basically disgusting that people cannot live up to the precepts of the religion they proclaim to believe.
