Honestly, it's been my experience that men take even a cold harder than women. At least the ones I've known. I'm not sure if it's feel pain more/less intensely or just how they handle it, and how well each can suck it up. Women often don't have a choice at home to be sick. They still have to take care of things or they don't get done. Hawk - Yes, I have felt the pain equivalent of being kicked in the balls. I fell on a balance beam or tree limb when I was younger and took in the crotch, and it was the most intense pain I felt in my life. I asked a guy once about being kicked in the balls, and we compared the feeling and where it goes - radiating to the stomach and whatnot. When I explained what I felt, he said it sounded the same. So sorry, that argument doesn't win.

I got an email not long ago from someone I haven't seen or spoken to since our break up almost six years before. A few weeks later, my friend got a phone call from an ex from about the same time in the past. So from recent experience, I'd have to say it takes at least a few more years.
Honestly though, I doubt I'll ever forget anyone I was intensely involved with (but I also remember why we broke up).

I'm 55 years old, and a great, sensitive guy--but YES, memories fade. Some of the women I was intimate with in my 20's are just integers added to the total of my life experience. At one time they each were my sun and stars, but they have faded into a warm, pleasant backdrop that flavors my quiet moments and adds a kind perspective that I see life from every day, and I find joy in the little things now, more that when I was younger. I'm more at peace, and more settled; not moved from a safe center easily; and faster to be kind to others. All this because of positive experiences many years ago, whose names and faces fade a little more into the mist with each passing decade.

I don't think so. In 2004 I found the boyfriend I had when I was 18 (on the net) after almost 40 years apart. We started corresponding (we lived 2300 miles away from each other), started talking on the phone, met up, and have been living together for over a year now. Felt just like "yesterday" we were together and love's better than ever!

As a man i should tell you no... I just thought about the first girl i ever loved today in fact. I think we do miss girls from time to time and we do think about the past in relation to what a future wouldve been like with that girl in particular

I still have not forgot the girl who used me to get to my best friend then left me for him but they never got together, I indeed thought she loved me.
