Clinton Richard Dawkins (born March 26, 1941) is a British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science writer who holds the Charles Simonyi Chair for the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University and is a fellow of New College.

I did not know he was hated.

I certainly don't hate the man. But ,he does have a god-complex and arrogance that mirrors that of many people here in this forum. Maybe someone should write a book titled " The Dawkins Delusion."

Because to love the L-rd is to hate evil.

Funny how people claim him as truth, but are condemned for claiming the bible as truth.

Funny how televangelists are condemned because they tell people what they want to hear...what is Dawkins doing? Telling you its ok to be an atheist. How many books has he sold again?

Dawkins seems to think that by taking pot-shots at the less demanding targets ie the extremes of religion, without any meaningful dialogue with others who might have deeper insight, he 'proves' he is right. I thought his approach to theJerusalem/Arab/Israeli problem particularly insulting form the point of view that he seemed happy to ignore many historical, cultural and tribal aspects, putting all of his argument into a 'it's the religiousbeliefs that are wrong, without them there would be no problem'basket. Shallow and uninformed - perfect for popular tv!

The man seems nice enough. I gather he thinks of himself as urbane, kind, intelligent. I do believe he has bitten off more than he can chew. In any event I don't see enough people gathering together with him to put an end to the 'virus' of fundamentalist religionists. I, personally, believe in God. And I believe humans will continue on their self destructive course until they stand upon the abyss.
