should i take the cosmetology exam?

i graduated 2002 i still have time not alot to take my practical exam my problem is i forgot alot and also have carpal tunnel but i love doing hair and my job now sux does anyone know where i can take brush up classes is there anything online?and should i take the exam? thanx

I would contact the state boards to see if their is a statute of limitations as to whenever you can take the exam after a certain period of time after graduation. I know in certain fields there are limitations.
As far as the carpal tunnel is concerned, it can be controlled by agressive conservative treatment; however, for conservative treatment to work you will need to know if nerve damage has already occured. I would seek treatment (if you haven't already) from an orthopaedist. He will send you to a neurologist to have nerve and possible EMG studies done of the afflicted limb to see if you do indeed have nerve damage already. Whether or not to continue seeking a career in cosmetology would be best known by the ortho and neuro doctor. If you already have nerve damage, the ortho might reccomend surgical intervention.
Another thing to consider is how you got the cts in the first place. Was it because of doing a repetitive type job, do you have diabetes, or have you been diagnosed with a thyroid problem? This is also a question to ask the ortho. You should also reveal to the ortho if you have every had any type of problems regarding your neck or cervical region. Any of this could be the problem for the cts. In closing, if I were you, I would be evaluated by the ortho before I did anything else.
