Because you've misdefined justice in your own mind. God is the standard by which justice is measured.
Take Christianity, for example. We believe that EVERYBODY (even the most righteous people) deserves to die. Interrestingly, the mercy shown by Jesus's sacrifice on the cross is the fulfillment of justice.

Religion is a human invention, not an invention of God. Religion was and still is a source of power for many. Religion goes wrong when a corrupt person is control. So please look at the persons who were and are in control. There lies your answer.

People accomodate injustice, it isnt only the religious people who have this problem, people in every walk of life do. But its just that the non-religious like to point out the flaws of the relgious more... even though we dont claim to be flawless.

Don't blame religion. Blame greed for it that is what is clear throught history. People get greedy and start killing.
