Dear heaven! Get off the computer and get to a doctor. That sounds more like gangrene than gout! Go to http://www.mediscan.co.uk/index.cfm and enter gout into the search box for pictures. Then type in gangrene and look at those. But, really, get to a doctor fast. You could be headed for amputation.

It is not grout. You have necrotic (dead) tissue. In other words, your toes are rotted. If you don't go have this treated immediate, it can get into your blood stream and you will die (it's called sepsis). Gout starts out as small joint pain; usually in the toes. After years, calcium deposits can accumulate and you could have 'bumps' on your foot joints. But, necrotic tissue or gangrene is caused from circulation problems such as diabetes. This is very serious. This is life or death.

Gout makes one of your toes swell and slightly red. If yours are black it might be a problem of deficient blood circulation. You should visit a doctor right now. Either you suffered a strong blow ( which you should remember) or you can suffer gangrene and loose your toes.

not a bruise, bruises get lighter. It sounds like the toes are dying and you could lose them. They may have to be removed. Are you diabetic? Go to Dr. in the AM.

Bruises can change colors, from purple, to green, pink, purple (which can look gray to black). Bruising can take weeks to go away.
However, if you think you have a circulation problem, have heat or cold toes, or numbness, visit a physician.

Don't try and self diagnose. Go to the Dr as soon as possible. The condition could be very serious and delaying early intervention could mean loosing your toes or at the worst your foot/leg.

You have gangrene. I bet it smells awful too right? GO TO ER ASAP! it can spread through your body and into your blood stream and you could end up losing more than just the toes. You could die.
