Someone please help! :-)

I have adopted an adult female Great Dane and she is going into season NOW and I need help with fabricating a "diaper" for her! I bought the largest disposable diapers made at PetSmart and they are half as big as they need to be and won't even meet around her waist.

If anyone has had to come up with something for their dane or know a friend that may have had to deal with the same problem, please ask them how they got thru it!

Also please direct me to any sites that might have something large enough for her. I've had no luck finding anything large enough.. She's the typical 130 lbs...

Thanks so much! Any ideas or help in this matter is greatly appreciated as you can imagine what a mess I'm about to have on my hands! Literally!

Thanks in advance!
Heather

Get a pair of men's undershorts and put them on her upside down, so her tail comes out the hole. Use a hand towel or folded tea towel for padding. Of course, you will have to take this off every time she goes out.

You may find that she doesn't bleed very much, it's an individual thing. Our recent rescue just spotted throughout the whole 3 weeks, so we didn't bother with the shorts. We just kept her out of the carpeted rooms, and she kept herself quite clean. It was easy to mop up the few spots on the floor.

Needless to say, watch her like a hawk when she is outdoors and don't take your eyes off her for a minute! We had male dogs appear that I've never seen before within 5 miles of us.

Bless you for giving her a home, and get her spayed as soon as possible.

you are joking right?? Why would you put a nappy on a dog? Why are you calling it a diaper in the UK yahoo section?
She will keep herself clean without you helping to cause an infection by putting a diaper on. I suggest you contact the rescue centre where you got her from and tell them what you plan to do.Then arrange to have her spayed ASAP

Yes, adult incontinence pants. Depends for example. Obviously they come off for peeing and pooping. You can make a belt that will hold a sanitary napkin.......hard to explain........think the letter H. the center crossbar holds the napkin, the two verticals are velcr strips that either wrap around the waist or secrure the legs.

You might want to try the "Goodnights" that they have for older children. I think the largest sizi if for children over 100 pounds. I have a customer who uses baby diapers on his dog, and they seem to work fine. It might be worth a try to see if you can manipulate them to work for you.

I think you should get her speyed.
but in the mean time, phone your vets and get them to order mikki pants large, and you can get the pads with it or buy sanitry towels, the pants will fit her and the vet will get the right size for you. good luck and well done for adopting!

You adopted her? I didn't think any place adopted out intact animals. Best thing you can do it keep her in the bathroom or some other area until she is done bleeding, then get her fixed.

Y front underpants & a stick on sanitary towel.

Put them on with the hole at the top for the tail to go through.
