Many volunteer programs at volunteer centers have great "team" resources that can allow you to start your own club or group. For example, my volunteer center has a couple of programs that allow teams of people to sign up for projects, and a team program that focuses a group of volunteers on a specific set of projects that meet a specific community need.

A lot of the volunteer centers through the Hands On Network have similar team programs. Check with the following links to see if you have some of the opportunities in your area:

If you're trying to recruit a group, start it through your volunteer center. They can help get you started, and even connect you with other volunteers and non-profit agencies that need financial support as well.

For additional resources, the Points of Light Foundation has a great database of community service information:

They can also give you guidance in starting your own volunteer center or similar organization. Their main site is http://www.pointsoflight.org

Good luck!

The best thing to do is to find a group that's already started and join them. Then you don't have to worry about bookkeeping and sending out a newsletter and can roll up your sleeves and get to work.
