As is so often the case with rushed sequels, the new testament lacks the quirky sense of high drama of the original installment. Despite its marvelously inventive plot twists, it is my considered opinion that certain portions of the Bible are simply too ribald for children and no more suitable in a Christian home than a copy of Hustler! I do not allow smut in my home regardless of the author and, frankly, one is hard pressed to find a book more salacious than the one written by our blessed lord.

Not to worry. It is too boring for them to bother reading it.

First of all, you're right that there are portions of the bible not suitable for young eyes and ears.

The bible has many purposes. One of those purposes is to pass along history, and that can't be done honestly by glossing over the gross parts.

Additionally, portions of the bible (Song of Solomon, for example) are, in part, a comentary about God's will for romance and sexuality among married couples. It's an issue that MUST be addressed, since there are so many perverts running around.

But it SHOULD NOT be shared with youngsters!

Incidently, as you're obviously a moral person, would you rather these issues weren't discussed at all?

I'm not sure which part of the New Testament you're talking about, but Song of Songs is as sexually explicit as the Bible gets, and that book is a wonderful description of the love and passion that should exist between a husband and wife.

You are parroting the Fundy approach to God but from the other side of the coin. Good luck with that.

I agree, there are many racy parts, especially in the Old Testament. Jacobs sex life, Judah's seeking after a whore and finding out that it was a relative, Hosea told to go marry a whore, etc.

But of the messages of faith and hope in God, priceless.

You go ahead, turn your critic back on the whole thing if you want, it's not my loss! ( ;

You won't find smut in the Qur'an, but you will get all the familiar stories that you loved in the old testament. In the third and final sequal (the Qur'an), you will find the story of Lot without the incest, the story of David without the wife-stealing, and no Tamars seducing their father-in-laws.

Aperson jerking off to a hustler, whilst common, is still not quite acceptable behaviour. But jerking off to the bible....I can't finish that sentence

Yep, you're better off with Hustler. Your kids will love it just like you do. When they grow up, they'll join you in visiting brothels and bring home the AIDS.

Ever notice how Bibles are printed with really thin paper? Kind of like big long novels?

If you have issue with the content, take it up with the author.
