Means that the person isn't dreaming around in the air and that things for that person are real like here down the earth. Is that you aren't thinking in pink clouds.

You are sensible and make good dicisions, you think clearly. Your mind is not floating off in the clouds, day dreaming about what you would do if you had to pick 3 people to be stuck on a desert island with, and they all had to be over the age or 50.

I think it means you are in touch with your emotions, yet do not let your emotions control you. It means you can see things for the way they are without all the societal sheen or fake lustre. That you are grounded in your beliefs and values... not extravagant or trendy, jumping to the latest fad. That you use common sense and act rather than not thinking and reacting. That you know how to manage your time without having to look for things to keep you from getting bored.... in fact, the words bored, boring, boredom, etc. are simply not in my vocabulary. That you realize life is precious and vow not to take it or those you meet for granted. That, to me is what I feel down-to-earth is all about.
