From a disease standpoint, the HIV virus infects a specific type of white blood cell (called T4 lymphocytes) and slowly but surely kills them off, unless anti-viral treatments are started and rigorously maintained. This results in the failure of the immune system, leaving the infected individual susceptible to many diseases (the disease symptoms referred to as AIDS), leading to death.

I am the mother of 2 boys 21 and 15. When I had that birds and bees talk with them....When I felt they were starting to have sex, I sat them done and explained about safe sex and why it was important to always have safe sex....then told them about Aids and many other diseases you can get from unsafe sex. I told them a good way to never slack with sex is to consider EVERYBODY they have sex with to be DIRTY already(has sexual transmitted disease)that way they will never not wear a condom!!
