I'm 6'00" weigh about 155 and want to start working out but am afraid of losing more weight. I'm looking to add muscle and build a bigger frame, not detract from the weight I have now.

Focus on strength training. Building more muscle always increases your metabolism and helps with toning your body but not necessarily losing the pounds (your muscle will weigh more than fat).

I think if you calculate the number of calories you are burning and make sure your intake is equal or greater than that, you won't lose any more weight. The workout will benefit your muscles only, although you may get slimmer because your muscles will get leaner. But the more you work out, the more you'll bulk up.

I would say that it depends on the type of "work out" you do. For instance, if you were to focus on running, swimming, speed walking, and the such, you are liable to burn off calories as well as some seemingly bulky fat. On the other hand, if you focus on weight lifting you will build muscle, which is of course more desirable and "bulkier"than fat. To solely build mass you should stick with some kind of muscle building exercise. Running and such is still good for your overall health with the bonus aspect of helping you to gain an increased apatite. So i wold recommend running 3o percent and building muscle 70 percent in your work out.

When you start woking out for the first time yes, you will lose body fat weight. If you do weight training workouts, in time you will be able to gain wight back in muscle. In teh first 2-3 months you will see the most biggest visible changes in your body. After that it will be a lot more graduale. If you want to gain weight drink more milk and eat handfulls of peanuts. (Peanut butter sandwhiches)

Try drinking protein powder drink. They have a lot of calories and protein. My husband has been drinking them for about a year along with working out about 5 days a week and he has gained about 10 pounds of muscle. Look for protein powder with at least 50 grams of protein per serving, and drink 2-3 times a day. Good luck!

muscle does burn more calories, so try to plan each day's food intake ahead of time. Get lots of good protein and even a little fat. A consult with a dietician would be great. Your family Dr. may be able to find one for you. Best wishes.

Select exercises that "tone" specific areas of your body to build mass and definition where you want it. You may need to increase your food intake a bit if you still have trouble building muscle mass.

muscle weighs more than fat, and takes up less space. You'll slim down a bit-or bulk up if your male- but you'll gain weight.
