Apparently sin is why we die. It kills us, so I've been told. HOW does it do that? Like... I understand how a heart attack kills and how Leukemia kills... could someone explain to me how sin kills?

No no no, I mean.... sin kills those who haven't sinned. Like... a child or the severely retarded. You know... those without the capacity for "sin". It was suggested to me that "sin" is the cause of all death... how does it do that?

dest, I was told that "sin" was the cause of birth defects in babies. Infants suffer and die from birth defects because of sin. Did sin cause birth defects or were those people wrong?

Sin and death can mean different things in the Bible, depending on the context.
God told Adam "In the day you eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will surely die."
Adam did not die physically that day - but he did die spiritually, meaning he was alienated from the True Life - God. He did not die physically until he attained the age of 930 years.
I believe that when Adam and Eve sinned the principle of corruption was introduced into the creation. Like a crack in a fine crystal, which continues to spread until the entire crystal is destroyed. This principle of corruption passed down to all Adam's descendants, so all are subject to physical death.
I do not believe spiritual death is inherent, but the tendency towards sin is inherent in human nature. God does not condemn one for their nature, but for their deeds. Some feel that's not fair, but that's just the nature of things. If you are born to wealthy parents, you are born rich - that's not fair. If your mom is a crackhead - you are born addicted. That's not fair either - it's just fact.

I don't quite think of it that way. I think that sins can kill you psychologically, assuming that you have at least some morals in you; and not physically. Heart attack and leukemia kills a person physically... but knowing that you did something wrong, that'll eat at you until you either let it out or go insane.
Of course, that also depends on the person and what sort of sin they committed. After all, some people do wrong stuff but believe that they aren't. Some people think others have committed sins when they haven't. It all depends on the sin itself, when it comes down to it.

Mr. Duchovny,
Sin is in our nature. It's not what we do so much as it is in our nature to be self centered. That is; not with God, but with ourselves.

It's against our nature to go along with God. So the Spirit of God guides certain people to return to Him by teaching us to trust Him, which is not the nature of the human creature.

So the sin nature kills us. It's in our being, even in our blood. All the birth defects, the wars, the diseases, the aging and growing old, were NOT a part of our being until the sin nature exposed us to what it is that we are now.

There are not only Ten Commandments. There are, some say, 613. Do them all, it is promised, and you will live. Fail at none of them, and you will have 'earned' your way to God. But that has been tried by many, and all were failures.

Jesus was the one who was promise to come, who came, and then he died as the sacrifice for sins, including the sin nature, for those that God chose to live with him. So death means nothing but a passing from this life to the next better life.

Hi ZERO COOL!!!

Have you heard of this saying??? CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT!!!!

Well is no coincidense people came up with this saying!!!
Because that is exactly why all of us will die. CURIOSITY!!!
We are curious, even if we need to defy nature itself which is GOD, and fall into disobidience, which is the simple word for sin!!
We sin when we disobey, GOD's rules and regulations....
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS!!!!!!

1- Why are we sinners???
As the bible says.... Since Adam and Eve sinned, and we are all decendants of them (first couple on earth), we are also
"SINNERS BY ORIGIN". And Adam and Eve, sinned out of curiosity, which it turned, into DISOBIDIENCE!!!!!.

2- Everyone is accountable?????
Since we are ALL, (no execptions), sinners
"BY ORIGIN", it doesn't really matter if you know about it or not or the level of capacity people have.

You know how and illnes is diagnosed???
First it attacks certain organs, or blood etc.
Then the illness stops the function of the organs which were attacked.
Once these organs have no function, the body dies!!!

3- HOW SIN KILLS?????
First the person is a sinner by origin(Adam and Eve).
What makes a person is, body and soul.
Then this person instead of trying to be closer to GOD, separates from HIM. (Which makes the person weak). Sinner.
The separation from GOD attacks the body and soul.
Making the combination of body and soul vulnerable and open to sin even more!!!
This in turns makes the body and soul to deteriorate to the point of NOT recognizing what his Nature is, which is GOD!!
Not recognizing the nature of it eventually the soul and the body dies!!!!

4- TREATMENT for this diagnosis.It doesn't cost a 1c.
Believe and recognize that GOD IS OMNIPRESENCE
Belieive and recognize that, JESUS IS LORD and Believe and recognize that THE HOLY SPIRIT is our souls guard and guidance.

Even if you are so sick to the point of dieying because of sin, you can turn to GOD, by claiming JESUS THE LORD, and by calling on HIM and acceptingHIM into your heart, HE IS LORD, You will be saved!

In the event you accept THE TRINITY OF GOD in your heart, even when your body dies, because our bodies are impured with sin; your soul will life a forever ETERNAL, life!!!!! With the promise of all the HEAVENS(7) being opened for us to live at!!!!
In the company of GOD, HIMSELF and all the angels and all the saints!!!!!!

GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A HAPPY LIFE

Sin kills because it's the antithesis of what God intended. God intended for us to live with Him forever, and since righteousness and sin cannot exist on the same plane, what does sin do? That's right, it KILLS the spirit of man as well as the flesh by whatever means necessary. War, famine, pestilence, avarice, apathy and etc. are many of the negative aspects of life that can be bred by sin and kill man.

U B the Man - Two heavy weight doctrines in 1 post.
Original sin is the doctrine that all humanity is born flawed, be it in their genetic code or the environment. This is traced back to Eve's desire for Self First or wanting to be God.
Suffering - often appearing to be undeserved, is undeserved, but the result of Original Sin and Free Will. If God had m ade us toasters, nice and chrome w/ 4 settings, things would all pop up dandy. God dared to give us free will. That's what makes things messy. It gave Eve her freedom and the accumulated weight of humanities existence and greed do the rest.
Death - Biblically it reads the wages of sin is death. The physical death we fear and fight against so desperately is but a symptom of the far more horrible death: spiritual death or eternal separation from God. That is the ultimate wage of sin. Jesus came to pay the debt. Last reel of the movie: death itself dies.

It simply brought death into the world. ie ORIGINAL sin. What you're talking about is personal sin. And it kills your soul. The death that really matters. Imagine a white circle. everytime you sin it makes part of it black. If it's a big sin the whole thing becomes black. This is your soul. If you die to this world with it black, you die for real- that is, you spend eternity away from God (hell)

That depends on the sin. In a secular sense, sin is just doing something wrong. The sin of murder kills, the sin of gambling away your family's savings arguably kills, etc. Thus, in a secular sense, I don't define things like homosexuality as "sin".

I prefer the term ethics anyhow.

Karma kills...not sin. What happens in a past life comes back with you until you learn the lesson...sometimes it will come at a different angle or viewpoint cause you didn't get it the first time. For example...in a past life your father had a heart attack and died due to years of smoking and poor diet, but that didn't sink in with you and you became a smoker...so perhaps in the next life, Karma will give YOU the heart attack and you will survive...but maybe you STILL didn't get it, and you continued smoking after your heart attack, then perhaps in your next life, you and your wife will be the smokers and she will have a heart attack while your child is still young and she dies and you have to raise the child alone without her...then maybe you'll get it.

These bodies we live in obviously won't live forever. There is only one guarantee in this life that everyone who has ever lived will die.
But guess what bro.. you aren't just made up of a mass of flesh that is deteriorating. You have a soul (your mind and intellect) and a spirit (when you sense something is wrong and the hair on the back of your neck stand up or you get a hunch). this part of you will live on forever. 80 years if you're lucky in this body and eternity in another. Life's too short to screw up eternity. Break down and seek the truth, no matter how bad it hurts.
