I was engaged to be married at 17, but the wedding was called off, and some of the gifts we had recieved, the givers told me to keep (he had cheated on me.) I am now 20, moving in with someone, so would it be wrong to use the dishware that I recieved in this new relationship or should I go buy more?

No of course not. It's just dishware; where you got it from doesn't matter if you don't want it to. Why waste money when you have perfectly good dishware? Besides, those who gave it to you wanted you to use it, and not just because you were getting married. That was simply an opportunity to give it to you, and if you feel guilty about it, then you can say that they're even for whatever occasion comes next. That or you can buy them some dishware for their birthday, anniversary, etc.

If the older dishware is still good and having it around isn't raising any bad memories/feelings, then go ahead and use them. I once got some pots and pans for when I moved in with my then-boyfriend, but we ended up hitting splitsville. Since they were given to me at a Christmas gathering, I just tell people they were Christmas presents. If your new man ever asks where they came from, you can tell him something like that(Christmas, graduation, birthday, etc.)

It's fine to use them. I don't think your new man would mind, but if you ever sense that he does mind, then get rid of them or give them away to your mom or other family members or sell them off. It's best not to tell him the history of the dishware if he doesn't ask or doesn't know about them.

I would go ahead and use the dishware, it was a gift to you. I would not tell my partner how I got the dishware.

It's your dishware, so you can use it whenever you want.
(But it's not a good idea to move in with a guy unless you're married.)
I wish you a happy future.

If you feel comfortable using them .. then use them.
They were a gift..
If you find yourself using the dishes and thinking of the problems of the past.. then give them to charity and by a new set.

I see no problem with you using the things that you have.I don,t see any reason to go out and spend money when you already have that item..i think you should use the things and enjoy them.......

Ofcourse it's okay. Thats like asking if you can still use the same dresser or the same hairbrush.

No. They are the spoils of war, love. Do with them what you will. Keep in mind that your new beau may not like it though. In which case, you may have to get rid of them after all.

The dishes were a gift to you. If you like them, use them.
