This is something I seriously don't understand. Please, Christians, enlighten me.

God is All-knowing. When somebody ask the question on here like "Why does God allow an innocent baby to have a disease?", most answers say it's our own fault for sinning, or it satan's fault, or human's screwed up the world. You know the sort of answers.

But God is All-knowing. He knew it would happen. He knew we would screw up or sin or listen to satan or whatever. The answer "free will" also makes completely no sense to me, an All-knowing God would still know what was going to happen.

So, does He allow to let it happen? Or does He choose to be less All-knowing than He is? Or isn't He All-knowing? Or? Or?

Really, I don't get it.

It's a love story. When I got married to my wife, I knew we'd get angry and fight; I'd hurt her and she'd hurt me. No, I didn't know exactly how, but I knew nonetheless.

Didn't matter to me. Love is worth it. God must think so.

God apparently didn't want to have a love relationship with someone without the choice to choose or reject him. Otherwise love can't be a choice, which it really has to be to be genuine, I'd think. On our end, we blow it every day doing stupid things, just like in our own relationships.

Yours is a good question, but Christians have no problem with it because they are sold into the love relationship with God while others reject him. In the meantime, to our own disgrace, we continue to be hurtful, and He will not interfere with free will when the love relationship hangs upon it.

It makes perfect sense to me; I doubt I was perfectly clear to you though. I tried.

Well whenever you come face to face with God you can ask Him. As far as a person giving you the right answer, it's probably not going to happen. But maybe one reason that these people are allowed to be born is because it can be a constant reminder or even an inspiration. Much like that trumpet player that plays in the band at the University of Louisville. Other than that, who knows. Only God himself can answer that.

I must say, you are definitely thinking on things and that's good, mostly because you don't understand something but aren't afraid to ask someone. Here is what I know. Remember that God does know everything, is everywhere at every second and he understands when bad things take place. For instance, a Friend of yours has a baby and two months later, the baby dies of SIDS. Everyone wants to blame God immediately!! Problem is, God has no problem with Death, we do! That is why God wants to save all of us, so that we don't have to FEAR the end or DEATH. Trust me when I say, that Baby is with the Lord. But in order to be with your Baby again, you as an adult will have to accept God's free offer. You will then no longer fear Death and you'll be reunited with your Baby. It's trully that simple!! God bless you!!
As for Satan?? Well he's an idiot!! As a matter of fact, everytime you do something wrong Satan runs to God and says, "Hey....did you just see what so-and-so just did?? He doesn't deserve to go to Heaven!!" God simply says, "Yeah but I died on a Cross for him, if he wants me to save him, I will. And he does deserve Heaven with me."
Always remember that Satan is always trying to trip you up or putting suggestions in your head, to keep you from understanding anything about God, so be careful. The Bible calls Satan the "Father of flies and Liars".

Hello =)

If he is out there, and he has dominion over such matters...(we would have to grant that children do indeed come from God, which I do not grant, personally), then we would have to assume that he does these things intentionally, and with full knowledge of the suffering they cause.

I don't think anyone ever said that God was a nice guy, did they??

If he does exist in the way that most believers think him to, he would have to be truly sadistic.

Of course, omniscience could mean "knowing all that is capable of being known" as well, but then, if all children come from God, why would he not be capable of knowing??

Oh, what the hell do I know, I'm a Buddhist...... My Christianity is a little rusty.....

Namaste,

Apparently, you ignored my answer.

And you're right, it's ridiculous to think children are born with deformities and disease because of sin. They've not been alive long enough to sin!!!

Yes, he allows it to happen. Largely because he's the only one with a "big picture" view of the universe. It MIGHT just be that those who suffer these sorts of fate enjoy a special closeness to God in Heaven.

But the most accurate answer is that we just don't know why. The bible doesn't say. But it does say we'll have all our questions answered in heaven. And God's word is enough for me.

In those terms, God is all-knowing in this moment, yet He makes no predictions about the next moment, since He knows that anything can happen. Each individual (even babies) are creating their own experiences, God would never think of creating your life for you, he gave you free will to make your own reality.

You had it right with the original question. Just like God is the Creator but chose not to create everything there is to create, He is able to be everywhere but chooses not to be everywhere, He does not need to rest but He chose to rest, He can cure everything yet chooses not to cure everything, He does choose NOT to know every decision everyone will make forever, I may know the outcome of whatever we choose but lets us choose for ourselves, thus, not allowing Himself to make the choice for us. Say I gave you a glass of wiskey and a glass of milk, I know if you drink the glass of wiskey you will get drunk, I know if you choose the glass of milk, you will not. But the choice is yours to make. He has a plan for everyone, and WE choose whether or not we will take it. Not everything that happens is God's will. If you want scripture support, email me, I will be happy to share it.

Believers and non-believers alike will usually agree that a good deal of our sufferig is our fault. Now, when I say "our fault" , I do not necessary mean our personal fault, but rather the fault of the human race in general.

Our food is compromised, pollution, medication...and many more can cause children to be sick. When we think about this issue there is seen and unseen. We see a child with a disease, but then we are not thankful for all the children that are healthy.

If we can get a glimpse of the "big picture", it is helpful. Otherwise many things here does not make sense. To see the big picture in our suffering is actually to see nothing at all. Sounds funny, but the big picture is invisible from the world's vantage point. Only those with the glasses of faith can spot some of the major interlocking pieces in God's eternal portrait.

Paul writes in 2 Cor 4:17-18:
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

As a Christian I cannot give satisfactory answers to the questions of suffering if I canot introduce this big picture, because it would not make sense. Why on earth children cannot be healthy and start their life right.

The death or disease of any child, a painful divorce, debilitating illness or the loss of job forces us to trade our horizontal perpective on life for a truly divine perspective.

It is the devil who wants us to long for being incredibly rich and live pain-free life so that we forget about God. Pain and suffering , hurt and agony humble us just enough so that we can spot the rich facets of our HeavenlyFather's character ( think about Job, he really suffered abundantly..but there in the end things worked out. He could not understand why all terrible things happened to Hime but He never cursed God for it. What good it would have done? He questioned Him..and God answered with His set of questions..Job did not want to lose eterinty. And he did not. )

I have learnt that through the pain and tears I can humble myself and run into the arms of God ( 2 Cor 12:8-10 ) God uses suffering to refine us. Temporary suffering is small price to pay for eternal happiness. In God's providence, He certainly does work good out of evil; it is His trademark and one of His greatest accomplishments. Christ's gruesome death on the cross is all the evidence we need.( He knows something about suffering! He suffered for other people's sins.)

We like to question God but we actually have much more explaining to do for God when we think of it. It is hard for us to love our Lord in every circumstance. He loves us. It might unnerve us to think that the adversity we are suffering might be God's way of directly punishing us for our sins. Who can forget the scandalous story of David-Israel's greatest king who cried out loud to God for mercy and forgiveness for his sins of adultery with Bathseba and the murder of her husband. According to Mosaic law, David deserved the death penalty. But David's genuine repentance ultimately saved him. God certainly did have mercy and forgave David completely.

David's 1st son with Bathseba died shortly after the birth. David's other son, Absalom, slept with some of David's wives and tred to hurt his father and kill him. Another son,Amnon, cunningly lued his virgin half sister Tamar into his room and raped her. Absalom, furious, retaliated by having his servants murder his brother Ammon. And through it all, David's kingdom was split. Israel's greatest earthly king was forgiven all right, but the horrible consequenses of his actions hounded him and his family the rest of their lives.

I know I branched out a lot, but what I am trying to say that God uses people and events and His Word to draw us to Him. He gave us a free will because He loves us and He wants the feeling be mutual. He knows how to get the job done, without violating the free will. Many things would not make sense if did not see the "big picture" . This life is a temporary assignment, and God has the whole eternity to make it up to us if we suffered here. He is all knowing and He knows what He is doing. We can pray, and He answers to our prayers..and sometimes the answers is no.

I think you should watch Dogma.

And... religion is supposed to be followed blindly (part of the reason I don't like it). 5 bucks someone will tell you to read the bible or something.
