Was the lost title in your name? If not of course they won't send you a copy, they will only send it to the person named as owner on the title. If it was in your name, go to the DMV in the state you reside in with the VIN and request a duplicate title.

Just like everyone else said, just apply for a duplicate title. However, do not do like one person said. Do NOT sign the back of your title. If you sign the back of your title and lose it or somebody steals it, they can say they own the car. That you just signed it over to them as a gift, and then techinically you won't own the car anymore because they will have the signed title. All they have to do is sign their name in the signed over to spot, since you've already signed yours so conviently. Do not sign a title unless you are about to sell it. There is no other reason to.

You need to get a duplicate from the state where the vehicle is currently titled. ALL states willl issue a duplicate title upon request and payment of a small fee.

Apply for a Lost Title in the state you are goin to register your vehicle in. It will take approx 30 days or less to complete the process and recieve your new title. (Be sure you sign the back of your title as soon as you get it)

I would be wondering why they will not send the duplicate title. You may have to take the car to the police to verify the VIN # but they should send you a duplicate. Call AAA and ask them. I bet there is a way to get it
