I am obese and have been for 17 years. I was thin before having my first child. I gained alot of weight with my first pregnancy (100 lbs) and after that was diagnosed with diabetes so was put on insulin. Insulin makes you gain weight so I gained more. Later in the years I was put on a drug called Zyprexa for anxiety and I gained another 50 lbs from that because diabetics should not take that medication especially when they are on insulin. Not to mention laziness off and on through the years along with depression added to it as well.

Well, I don't think I'm obese. I'll admit I'm fat. Is 285 at 5 foot 10 obese? I do ride a bike so I'm getting some exercise. Just rode about 7 miles to a work site last night. I first realized I was fat when I spent the winter in 4th grade not going out for recess. Mom wanted me inside after a bad flu I suffered so no exercise.
I ate peanut butter on bread at night before bed so I guess that helped gain pounds. When spring came and I went out for recess
I ran enjoying the outdoors,my friends came up behind me laughing saying how my butt shook when I ran. I got bigger as I aged and in my 30's I enjoyed the "All u can eat" buffets. That put on more pounds but I was still riding a bike. Some have said I look like an ex-football player but I never really liked the sport.
My big belly is my one stand out. I do have large relatives in my family. My mom,3 half sisters on my dad's side and he was kind of big himself tho my mom said he never weighed more than 205.
I hope this helps you.

1. Every attempt at quitting smoking added 20 pounds, then only able to lose 10, then back on cigarettes. After many attempts the weight piles on.
2. Medication side effect, especially psychiatric meds.
3. Runs in the family. Seems everyone is gaining weight as they get older.
4. Having a baby changes your body and it seems that once you get to max. weight in the 9th month, your body has a tendency to want to go back there. Hormonal changes I believe.
How bad do people feel about themselves as a result of increased weight? That should be a follow-up question.

I have no vices - don't drink - don't smoke -don't have affairs on my wife - so my only option is to eat
when my elbow bends - my mouth flies open - and I do NOT miss
It's the seafood diet - see food - eat it
