to any former smokers or simply intelligent ppl...is it walkin on the edge to tell your gf to stop smokin if you aren't really gonna?

I mean, of course it is a disgustin habit, but I'm tired of feeling manipulated...

and just for shits and giggles, I have my own income and he's still livin at home...

Take this away from him, quit for you . He is trying to exercise some control over you, but you can do the same. If you quit and he doesnt tell him you can not go out with a smoker.

I see it like this. I'm a smoker and I have made the decision to stop. Not because anybody else has said that I need to, just that I want to. It is a nasty habit, costly, and has no real redeeming qualities.
You need to tell your b/f that the ONLY person you can quit for is yourself, and that it doesn't matter how much he complains, it's not going to make you quit until you're good and ready to.

i'm not a former smoker.... but i am a intelligent person. every one in my life smokes ( just about it ). and i'm constantly trying to get them to stop. but try is all i can do. i have no power to MAKE them. i understand the annoyance of him telling you to stop while he continues. if your really going to stop then you dont need to be around others who do it. and if he wanted you to stop bad enough then he would be trying to stop also. i wouldnt try stoping until he showed signs of starting to stop too. i do hope though, for your health, that you do find it in yourself to stop because even though i dont know you i dont want you to die from lung cancer!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND HIM!!
GOD BLESS!!

It sounds like y'all have a lot worse problems in your relationship.

Ditch the guy and find someone you are more compatible with.

(But It wouldn't hurt to quit smoking anyway)

Both of you should stop smoling all together and make it a promise to each other that you'll do it. If one stops and the other doesn't than remind them about the promise you made.

You can only quit if you want to, not because someone told you to. Tell him he met you when you smoked, when you are ready you will quit and to back off...I tell my husband that it makes me smoke more when he mentions it, he has stop ask me to quit...

yeah lets talk about your bf behind his back.

that son of a #@$# im in love with you, but i cant help but talk about your annoying habits behind your back on some internet service.

come on, talk to him face to face, maybe while you are both lighting up. if he persists tell him he can smoke the next cigarette outta his butt hole while he is at it

Well, it seems like he cares about you enough to want you to quit. But it's kind of hypocritical if he is still going to smoke.

You should quit and then use that to force him to quit!!! Then we all win! :)
