Breastfeeding your child at any age up to 3yrs imparts immunities from the mother to many diseases and illnesses.Children that are breastfed are usually calmer ,healthier, happier ,and more secure adults with fewer addictions like smoking and drinking. That said it also is beneficial to the mother ...lowering blood pressure and decreasing your chances of getting breast cancer by over 20%/child.I nursed all 4 of my boys til they were 2 and they never needed a pacifier slept thru the night well and I still receive affection from my 19 yr and 15yr boys in public because we have a strong bond.

Doesn't the Australian Breast Feeding Association recommend that you breast feed up til the age of 2. I found it an enjoyable experience, lost weight, convenient (it's always on tap), no stuffing around with bottles, and not at all embarrassing in public as I was discrete. Personally I breastfed my first until he was 6 months then put him on the bottle, my second until he was 1 then he had a bottle for a little while and I just finished my daughter last week and she is 23 months and is also drinking out of a cup. It's a personal thing but if you can do it then go for it.

it's good for you to help lose post baby weight, it burns around 500 extra calories a day. you want to keep your baby off formula, why feed your kid fake milk thats been overprocessed and costs big $$$ when you have the perfect stuff on tap for free? i'd keep going til 12 months old if you can. you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you are giving your baby the best start in life that you can.

It's cheeper for one. They need some kind of breastfeeding or formula until they are one. And it is healthy the longer the better. Good luck!

The same benefits they get when they are newborn. I have been told that you should be breastfeeding them till they are a year old.

Its healthier for the baby.
For mom, its is free, a good way to lose weight, and super convenient. No need to buy formula, clean bottles (or at least as many)

i've only heard of the really strong benefits of breastfeeding from birth-6 weeks. breastmilk does increase immune system-but so does letting your kid get the common colds!
I'd talk to your pediatrican about it.
