It really depends.
Most of the casinos (online adn offline) make their money from the common gambler - those who come to play for fun and loose the occasional $100 - $500.
But here and there you can find the high rollers, those who "know what they're doing" and think they can beat the house, which sometimes they do.
By the way, if you consider poker gambling, then yes - people DO win in poker. In the last WSOP, a guy named Jaime Gold won $12 million! But that's not just luck - that's skill.

does somebody win? of course -- unfortunately, it's usually the house. Best suggestion if you do win: don't spend it. Save it up and use it as part of your bankroll to advance your skill in a game such as poker. As your game advances, so will the money you win. Once you are consistently winning and making more than your bankroll fluctuates, you can start pocketing portions of your bankroll for bills, gifts or other purchases.

One time I won $10,000 and I fixed my car, paid some bills, helped my daughter pay her rent, some bills and buy books for school and bought my son a Playstation 2 and some games and books that he wanted for a long time. It was pretty much gone after that but it was fun while it lasted!

had a big win once - but did not leave, so lost it all back to the casino. How else would the casino pay for their heavy overheads if not for suckers ? lol

No. You never really make any cash from it. They take some sort of fee from it that makes it look like you won but you didn't.
