One way to start would be to stop spending tons of energy to make snow for failing ski resorts that don't have snow because of global warming - is that crazy or what? We are one wierd species.
Many other ways are simpler. Turn lights off when you aren't using them. Walk or bike or take public transport if you can instead of drive. If you must drive, choose a fuel efficient car. Think about the energy you are consuming when you buy things, reuse if possible, buy recycled if possible, minimize packaging at the very least. Before WW II , people tried to keep things from rotting (tool handles, baskets, boxes, bags, etc.), now we try to figure out how to reduce our garbage. Turn your heat down or your air conditioner off. Kill your TV and play scrabble or read instead All these little things add up. Plant a tree, or a vegetable garden. And for those cynics who may point out I am obviously using electricity for this.... mine comes from the sun. I am still figuring out if energy cost of the manufacture of solar panels offsets their benefits, but to the best of my ability, it does.
Good luck!

This is a very burning issue of the date. The way earth temperature is increasing it seems in coming centuries the earth will turn into a single ocean from its present status of 5 oceans and 7 continents as the ice from the poles will melt all the globe will be covered with water..probably till that day we all would become good swimmers or the man would become an aquatic creature..this seems to be fantastic..is it really??
The way we are emitting co2 and other harmful gases it seems that earth will someday become a body with 70% co2 and 30% N2..no oxygen to breathe!!
anyway the people who dont like to be like fishes or want to breathe oxygen they need to think in this direction and should take some steps for their own causes.
The scientist and technocrats should develope the technology to emit minimum of such gases. Forest department and even general public should participate in tree plantation.
one best thing that every citizen of world can do is: plant a tree on your b'day or marriage anniversary or any special occasion instead of cutting a cake.

The Heat on Earth can be reduced in the following ways :
1. Developed countries should discourage people from wastefully using ACs and Heating systems. The people should make themselves acclatamised to the normal vagaries of weather up to certain extent. As by using ACs for cooling and using fossil fuels for heating, the net outcome is the generation of heat ( efficiency factor of machines), ultimately heating the Earth's atmosphere..
2. The Universal agenda should be to increasingly plant and maintain forests. The depleting forest cover is the main cause of erratic rainfall patterns. This, coupled with the High heat generatded by burning fossil fuels, the pattern of precipitation has changed globally. The reduced spread of rainfall has caused generalised heating of the earth.
3.Asian countries should focus on population control measures . The majority of world's population lives in China and Asia region. The bio-activities of this population including Livestock farming and Agriculture contributes to the emision of CO2 and Methane gases which are the main heat traps. Controlling the activities of this population is very critical for the health of the earth.
4. Take a holistic view of Induatrialisation and restricting industries in ecologically suitable locations across the globe. For example; Industry not suitable in Asian ecology should not be allowed to be established there. A world protocol on this issue is the need of the hour.
5. Last but not the least , the Tourism industry shuold not be allowed to venture into the ecologically fragile zones.

We have VERY little time to do something (Earlier then 2050). Once the pockets of frozen methane open due to the melting of antartic ice, it will be like a steroid injection for global warming, and there will be no turning back. We will have successfully destroyed all non-intelligent life on Earth (leaving about 500 million humans left).
The only way to turn back global warming would be if someone created working perpetual energy right now. Every government in the world adds to global warming without a second thought, and there is no hope UNLESS perpetual energy saves us all.

The steps that can be taken might not be possible today where we are standing .....
1. We would have to make the earth more natural than what it is... Making our world a planet of steel and iron would only add on to the Warming effect...
2. In addition to the artificial world that we are in today... The pollution is encouraging Global Warming and in increase of Greenhouse Gases.. So we need to reduce on the pollutants.. To do that again..we would have to plant more trees and make the world a natural place to live in...
The way we are moving there isnt any ray of hope from my vision....unfortunately.. Thisis an issue which is in no one's hand because it involves the environment..atmosphere..the world and the worlds where humans have no role to play....

Guys, let's get this straight- solar panels are inefficient for producing electricity. On average, solar panels are 15% efficient. Gasoline fueled engines are roughly 24% efficient and diesel engines are roughly 32% efficient (but they pollute the environment much more than gasoline engines). The effective way to use solar panels (so you aren't using more fossil fuel energy to make the panel than the panel is producing) is to use solar water heaters if you live in a sunny area. This way you do not need to convert the form of energy so you have fewer energy losses.

solar electric power to charge our electric cars would probably be the easiest and fastest way to help reduce temps. We have to get moving on it though. Solar panels can be rented for homes starting fall 2007 instead of paying purchase prices of $25-50K! There are lots of electric cars coming too, some people are good at building them too, so we have a chance to ease global warming and slow down the production of green house gases. We can all do our part in MANY ways, but these would be the FASTEST WAYS...and we need something FAST. Rethink solar and join the solar revolution and be part of a solution, not the problem. Everyone can do their part and feel good in making a diference in this serious situation.

u see heat on earth is caused due to global warming .obviously when it comes to reduction of global warming the first thing is planting of as many trees as possible coz it reduces the CO2 in nature or on earth.secondly to get our vehicles checked so that they do not cause air pollution.thirdly, the use of CFCs i.e. chloroflorocarbons is to be reduced.this could be done by avoiding excessive use of air conditioners and sort.

Place a large asteroid into a solar orbit that is smaller than earths orbit. Then explode it with an atomic bomb to create a cloud of dust to shade the earth. Maybe this is how Satern got it's rings.
