That really depends on your height body type, and body mass index. I suggest that you see your doctor to find out if you even should lose weight. If he/she determines that you should, then you can work with him/her on a safe and healthy diet/excercise plan. Please be very wary about diets that you read about online or hear about from your friends. Your doctor knows best. However, if you'd like to learn more about your BMI and such I suggest you go to www.teenshealth.org or www.medlineplus.gov Good luck.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

10 pounds by summer is a very reasonable goal, and you're aiming for a reasonable weight. Kudos!
I think the best way is to cut fatty and sugary foods out of your diet. Drink water instead of soda and even instead of juice. When you get hungry, drink water (because often the body mistakes thirst from hunger,) and if you're still hungry after a glass of water, eat something healthy like fruit, veggie sticks, plain toast, or yogurt instead of junk food like chips and candy.
It's fine to "cheat" on this diet as long as you make the substitutions as much as possible. If your daily diet no longer includes soda and junk food, you'll be surprised at how much weight you'll have lost by summer! Probably much more than 10 pounds, plus you'll feel great!

If you can, try to drink a full bottle of water before you eat your meals - it'll fill you up and you won't eat as much - I'm assuming you really don't want to give up junk food and/or soda's but if can just try to drink that water - it will help shrink your stomach enough to when you do lose the weight your stomach will have shrunk enough so you won't overeat immediately. Good Luck - I'm sure you'll look great!!

teenagers spend more time in the house on computers playing video games and watching TV, try getting out more walking to school if possible, walk to the store library or a friends house. When you get into a routine of walking it will come easier for you to do and you Will loose weight but you may weigh more because you will turn it into muscle .

Start cutting back on your food intake...dieting works...just look at the people in concentration camps(lack of food brings starvation, overeating brings excess weight, moderate intake keeps you fit).
Stay AWAY from junk food, soda's, fried food(all garbage!)

Drink lots of water.......exercise every day - walking at least 20 minutes or basic exercise for at least 20 minutes and build up time as needed.
But please remind her - that there is more to her than her size!
