Most certainly. Christianity tells you not to use your brain. That logic and reason are tools of the devil and science is a rival religion.

Historically the church has been responsible foe deliberately keeping the masses uneducated so that it could maintain control. It has been usurped in this by television now so governments no longer need religion to mollify the masses

No, Christianity isn't responsible for the dumbing down of society. I know a lot of idiotic Christians, and a lot of idiotic atheists, and a lot of idiotic Moslems, idiotic Wiccans (all of them, actually), Scientologists (same)...
People aren't made dumb by the philosophy to which they adhere, people are made dumb by never considering any other.

However, your examples are extremely compelling, and also make me giggle.
