Ok, you know about the brushing and flossing.
The next just as important thing is your diet.
Here's a simplified version of what cavities are: We all have bacteria on our teeth, even the best brushers can't get this microscopic stuff 100 percent off.
Now, this bacteria (we'll call it Plaque) loves sugar and carbs. Everytime you put something in your mouth that contains sugar (think not only candy and soft drinks, but frequent snacking on chips and pretzels), the plaque eats this and the byproduct of this plaque/sugar union is 20 minutes of acid production on your tooth. It's prolonged exposure to the acids that soften your tooth causing a cavity.
So, if you're drinking one soft drink a day, that's too much. 35 grams of sugar (in one Coke) is alot of sugar. Sipping anything with sugar for a long period of time, sucking on mints-- this causes more acid for longer times.
Really look at what your everyday habits are and make the necessary changes. You will see a difference. Also ask your dentist about Prevident, it's a dental fluoride gel you can use at home to strengthen your tooth enamel.

Brush at least three times a day for at least three minutes each time. Floss DAILY. Go to the dentist twice a year or every 6 months. Brushes with the tongue and cheek thing added are great. and if you can get an electric tooth brush my dentist told me that it was better then just a normal one. Go for a medium soft brush. Eat foods with calcium (your teeth are bones) as well as avoiding foods that stick to your teeth like peanut butter and honey. And rinse with water or drink water after a meal to help get rid of some food left behind......

You can not stop the decay you can only slow it. While my teeth were decaying years ago before I recieved crowns my dentist told me to do these things to slow the decay:
Brush three times a day
Floss every day
Gargle with salt water!(This is a must! It's gross and disgusting but you have to do it!)
Keep in mind it will only slow it you are probably looking at a crown in the furture.

xylitol is supposed to help teeth regenerate.
Regular brushing and flossing is supposed to help.
Don't drink fizzy drinks, the acids attack the teeth.
Don't drink liquids with lots of sugar, bacteria convert the sugars to acids and it attacks the teeth.
Go to the dentist and take their advice.
