Well maybe, but I have been doing it for 17 years now and I'm still okay. Well, now that I think about it, i think i might be insane. Nevermind.

The thing I wish I could personally ask each and every person who makes a comment like the one you are talking about is: Would you honestly keep your child home all the time if you homeschooled them at that age? Would you honestly not allow them to leave the home, play at a playground, meet other children? These type of comments always point to, from a psychologically analytical point of view, a perceived inability on the "speaker's" part to do otherwise. THEY can't fathom doing a good job homeschooling so they are against other people doing it, too, assuming that others would do it the same way. (Yes, there are plenty who feel they couldn't do it and admire those who can, but I'm speaking specifically about those who make comments like those mentioned.) It's NOT because it's repeated so often that it makes it true--although, sure, some people don't think further than their noses and hear a comment like that and don't question its validity; it's because of their own (perceived) inability to do it otherwise. Where they come from? A lack of skill in analytical and critical thinking to be sure. This causes faulty projection ("all of the homeschoolers I've ever known were... so that means that most homeschoolers are ....") or just plain faulty assumptions ("homeschooling is at home; therefore you don't go out"). It'd sure be nice to run a course in logic. ;)

My brain is ravenously hungry for new information and the more I feed it and the more it grows the more it realizes how little it Knows. That drives me crazy! I feel like I need to know everything to infinity and beyond but I have to much to do and these dishes aren't going to do themselves you know.
In my spare time I study metaphysics, psychology, philosophy, creative writing, sociology,etc...but what is the point? I can't afford college... I am a single mother of 2...where is all this unaccredited knowledge and wisdom gonna get me? The loony bin....again..because I know things that they don't want me to. I have the capability of stirring up trouble in the masses because of all the stuff I know..and they know this...so they say I'm PARANOID...how's that for an answer?

No. Where did you hear that? The only way too much studying could cause you to have mental problems would be if you were depriving yourself of sleep or food, which affects your cognitive abilities. The word "insane" is a legal term, and means nothing in the mental health community.

No. Your brain lets you know when it needs to rest. You can't concentrate anymore, get antsy or tired, or bored. Trust your body to tell you what it needs. Like many cells in our bodies, 'use it or lose it' applies. If your brain is not being exercised by stimulation, brain cells will perish and can't be regrown. That's why it's so important for people with dementia and Alzheimer's to keep trying to stretch their minds. Older people are advised to do crossword puzzles and read to delay the onset of these illness. If your brain is willing, feed it as much as you can.

No the reason people say that is because some mental problems such as ocd etc .. are more common in smarter people ..
i wouldnt worry about it though..
But too much studying and not alot else could make you go crazy as it's so damn boring.. unless you like the subject.
But it could make you insanely rich......... soooooooooooooo i'd keep at it.

Well, you can also become insane without studying.
My logic is... if you are going cuckoo... better to be a cultured lunatic than a stupid crazy person, right?
At least lunatics with a title do get nice jobs in management, advertising and can even run for president!
