I have a friend that has some questions about this religion but she does not have internet access,

My friend is worried because she knows someone who practices Santeria. This person got mad at her and supposedly put some curses on her. I don't believe in any of this and have told her that if she believes in God that he will protect her. She says that she believes in God but she is still scared of what might happen to her.

What you need to know is, it doesn't work.

Haiti and Cuba are the only third world countries in the Western Hemisphere. Hatians (who practice Voodoo, which is somewhat similar to Santeria) live in extreme poverty, their island is ravaged by AIDS. Cubans likewise live in poverty, and risk death to escape the haven for Santeria on homeade rafts (most dying try to do so).

Does it sound like it works for them? Why don't they just use their magic to get rich?

Because it doesn't work! Nothing about the occult works (other than to complicate your life and waste your time).

Furthermore, you can't combine Christinanity with African sorcery. Here's an answer to a different question, but it still applies:

It is regarded disrespectful to put on those units with no need acquired the correct ceremonies. It does not topic how a lot you feel you've found out or realize approximately those Orisha, you have got to suffer the correct rituals to obtain the Ashe of those Orisha. Santeria (safely known as Lukumi or Regla de Osha) is a faith that's now not found out from books or the web. You desire a expert elder to advisor you. It is honestly a nasty proposal to "learn and be trained" up to feasible in view that the majority of what has been written used to be performed so my clueless outsiders that stuffed their gaps in talents with natural invention and or outright lies. More than most probably what you are doing is surroundings your self up for a protracted procedure of "unlearning" the crap you are going to fill your head with.

This is a religion based on the Catholic and Carribean/Haiti voodoo religion. It uses the saints and a mix of the Orisha or gods. They use animal sacrifice to appease or ask the gods or saints for help. The animals are killed humanely and the meat is eaten as part of the ritual.

Try looking under Voodoo it is basiciy the same thing . Santiria is practiced mainly by puerto rican witch doctors ,but it is a mixture of southafrican Voodoo and puertorican black magic. Tell her to go to the library and read up on Voodoo I believe they even have books written about Santaria itself.
