I think it depends a few things:
1) how old is the sitter?
2) will there be any house cleaning involved?
3) is the baby teething or does she/he get sick alot?
4) how experienced is the sitter?
I'm 22 and I'd watch a baby (probably for free bc I LOVE children and actually interact with them) for no less than $250 a week. I know that sounds like a lot but look at it this way:
I currently make 7.75. working an 8 hr shift is $62.
62 times (lets just say 5 days a week) 5 is 310.
BUT if i take taxes away, thast actually like 250, maybe less. If this person could drive would you give them gas money to run errands for you (if you asked?)
Putting your child in daycare is alot more expensive than that.
So i guess it all depends on how experienced they are and everything else i listed.
Good luck! Hope that helps.

My daughter is in a licensed daycare. A VERY GOOD one. She is there for about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. She is 8 months old now, and I pay $100.00 per week. I have been paying that price since she was 3 months old and first started going to daycare. One thing to remember is that a daycare charges more for infants than toddlers and school age children because they require more attention from the provider. Even a very good baby requires more attention than a toddler. Good luck! I pay $3.00 an hour for my 8 yr old to be in daycare an hour a day before school starts.

Depending on how many hours it is.. You should charge $3-4 an hour for the first 4 hours and then each additonal hour $5 unless the people are wealthy then you coould ask for more but most standard people are only making $12 per hour so you dont want to take to much of there pay check. If you give them a fair price they may reccomend more people to have you babysit for them. Hope this helps, Mag48

You might try calling day care centers in your area and find out what they charge. It'll give you a starting place because all areas are different. In my neighborhood a daycare center will charge $150 a week for under 2 years old, but up near my work daycares wanted $250-300 a week.

I pay my babysitter 5 dollars an hour- the minimum wage here is 7.15/hr. Babysitting doesn't usually pay minimum wage unless the parents are rich. I would say a dollar under minimum would be reasonable. I make .25 over min so I can't pay much more or it would be pointless to work at all. So take into consideration what the parents make as well as how experienced you are.

Does full time mean 24 hours a day, meaning you have a place to live and sleep? If you're a live-in nanny then you should charge less than a non-live-in sitter.

In Canadian dollars we pay around 2.50 (if you can find a cheap sitter) to 3.50 per hour for one child...
