In atlanta most school systems are countywide- you would enjoy teaching a lot more in Dekalb county than in Cobb County.
Cobb County is overrated. I remember when I moved to Atlanta, I thought Marietta would be a nice place because prices were a little more expensive but when I got there I was not impressed- it was just more expensive because of the air force base.
And folks will always ask you if you live past the big chicken- (you gotta know cobb county for that one)
Bottom line- you have a better chace working for someone who thinks like archie bunker in Cobb County or in Dekalb county you have a better chance of working for someone who thinks like Florida Evans
- oh yeah also since you are single I will add that when I lived there, I did not like to date women out in Cobb County because it was too far away from anything- you gotta go all the way out there, pick someone up then drop them back off and drive home and the police be trippin- sorry....

Hope your planning to work in Cobb, too! PROMOVE.com is an apartment finder's service that is free and these people really know the communities intimately. For example, Marietta vs 'Scarietta'... Cobb County is like most of metro ATL in that aspect. You'll like it here! Welcome.
Might want to google some crime stats and basic info. Dekalb County could desperately use some good teachers with intense social services skill. Dekalb County Police Department rated the HIGHEST in the entire nation for incidents of Police Brutality...most of that against Blacks. And that's just part of it's charm.
You'll find quite a few professional Sisters, as well as Brothers, in Cobb who love it out here. Again, try Promove.com because as the above Reader mentioned...price doesn't guarantee anything. And btw, the air force base Does Not drive up the price of real estate!

Mableton and Austell are in West Cobb and might have housing prices more similar to most parts of Texas. It's up and coming and not yet through the roof. Also not too far from Six Flags!

Marietta or Smyrna are probably your best bets. They are both decent suburbs, and are only about 10 minutes away from Atlanta proper.

North Marietta and East of Marietta is nice I grew up there and I liked it. Jimmy is right about the BIG CHICKEN, you can't get directions from anybody if you don't start there. I think Sherman ate there.
