I drink a protein drink in the mornings that has 44g of protein in 2 scoops. I heard that the body can utilize more than 35g of protein at a time.....am I wasting the stuff by using 2 scoops? Should I just use one scoop and have 22g of protein for breakfast?

If you have a healthy diet, you shouldn't have a problem getting your recommended amounts of protein, meaning you wouldn't need the drink. There hasn't been any or enough research done on too much protein ingestion, but some resources say you will urinate out what you don't use since the body can not store protein.

So, it depends on how much you weigh. You probably could use 1 scoop for breakfast and take the other scoop about 3 hours later and you would be just fine.

Some experts believe that you only need a total of .36 to .4 grams of protein per pound of body weight. So the 100 lb woman need 36 grams of protein per day, while the 250 lb man need 90 grams of protein per day. Of course that is assuming a straight maintence diet. Those who are trying to gain muscle mass would normally want to take more.

Adult recreational exerciser = 0.5-0.75 grams per pound of body weight
