I know several Marines and there doesn't seem to be a particular size, unless you're talking about heart and ego. Marines have lots of heart, in that they never give up, and they have no doubt that being a Marine makes them the ultimate in cool. I think they may be right. ;p

It is hard to generalize because certain body types are more adept at different tasks.

It may not be great to have a tank crew of Marines that are all 6' plus and 200lbs plus. There is only so much space to maneuver inside a tank or aircraft or even exploring hiding holes or tunnels.

On the other hand having to hump long distances and carry supplies and weapons is much easier for a bigger guy than a smaller one.

i think it was a former president or someone who said "marines are classified as a doberman and a rotweiler 1 is skinny and mean and the other is big and mean" so i dont know if this helps you but theyll take anyone who makes weight standards.

All the ones I know are lean and not super tall, very fit.
too tall would tend to be hit too often and its harder to sneak up on the enemy.
Whoa , Marines take the best toughest guys and make them better and tougher than any one in the world. and I don't think they like you!!!

Buff, height doesn't matter. I'm short and I can fight with the best.

Just show up healthy, fit, and motivated. They'll make you a tank with basic.

Good luck and hope you make it into the brother hood of the USMC.

Cheers.

I think the skinner ones do better. They are usually faster runners and have less trouble with pulls than the bigger guys.

I just got out of the Corps in March and they don't care as long as you're within their weight standards.

Size doesn't make the man, nor the marine. It is the drive and determination of the individual.
